Infinity Primus P363 vs Polk Monitor 70 Series II ?

Fry's has put the Primus P363's on sale again for $214 a pair, but Newegg has the Polk Monitor 70 Series II listed for $300 a pair currently plus the CS2 center channel for $150. Lowest price I have seen on the PC351 Infinity center is $275.

I am torn between pulling the trigger on the P363's or the Polk Monitor 70 Series II. 90% of my listening will be movies and television.

Plan to mate the front speakers with an Outlaw LFM-1EX (which I hope to purchase on Black Friday) and Super Zero surrounds for my 5.1 system.

Looking for feedback from any forum member that has experience with either of these two aforementioned speakers.

Thanks

Finally we are there - Purchasing now. Thanks for putting up with all of my questions.

My vote goes to the Infinities. I have only heard Polks in-store, but I have never been too impressed with Polk, especially in the last 15 years or so.

I own the Infinities, at that price they are tough to beat. For music, no sub is needed.

Otherwise, look at the Andrew Jones designed Pioneers.

IMHO, if you want a budget tower then you get Infinity, Pio, or Boston Acoustics
BOSTON ACOUSTICS A250 2-Way Dual 5.25" Floor Standing Speaker EA Black | Accessories4less

The standard advice is to listen to both, in home if possible, and only you can decide which is right for you.

Slippery,

What BA center channel matches up to the BA A250's?

You're on your own for that, sorry. Most of my experience, time, and effort is with 2 or 2.1 channels.

But, I bet somebody else on here will know more about it than me.

No question here, the Polks would be a mistake.

My advice: stop asking and just wait for what you want to go on sale. It has already been said plenty of times, you aren't going to find something in this price segment that is seriously going to top the Infinity or Pioneer speakers for less.

P363's purchased. Now just need to grab the PC351 center when it drops to $200.

Odd. Lack of bass is not a problem with the P363. Those should be fine for most music without subs. In fact, pretty good bass extension and output is one of the strong points on the 363.

Maybe what he meant was lack of boomy bass that you get with a hollow cabinet and overtaxed drivers. And the worst part of Polk Monitors is the treble...

Congrats on the 363s and good luck finding that center. I had the same front stage for a long time.

I liked it a lot.
