I have a new Denon x4000 AVR which seems to be tripping the protection circuit relatively frequently. I hadn't noticed it before tonight but my kids tell me it has been happening when they play xBox once in a while as well. I'm curious because it happened multiple times tonight, but we weren't listening at loud volumes and the receiver didn't feel particularly warm to the touch. I'm driving Aperion Verus Grand Bookshelves and Center, and their Intimus Bipoles for surrounds along with an HSU VTF-2 for the sub. All my speakers are connected via banana plugs, so I shouldn't have any stray wires touching, but I double-checked just to be sure. The Verus Grands are rated as 6 ohm speakers, but I wouldn't think the Denon would have any trouble with these.
Any ideas before I send it off to Denon? I doubt I need a separate amp just to drive these speakers at normal volumes, but could that be the problem? Not sure what else to check but open to any ideas. Currently, I have it unplugged from the wall and hoping the magic fairies fix it before morning....
Thanks!
