I depends on what you meant by "enjoy the audio". No problem with DD,DTS and but for HD audio on BR you will need to use the analog outs of the 105. So the answer for you should probably be yes and no, depending on your needs.

Thanks Peng. was planning to use the 5.1 analog outs for sound and connect my sat receiver to the 105 via HDMI. Is this possible.

You can do it but why not just connect the sat to the TV directly? If I am just watchinig TV I wouldn't want to use my 105 at all.

What you are asking should work yes, but I agree with Peng, not sure what the benefit would be.

You are still limited by the quality of the broadcast signal, which varies significantly, so the idea is right but may not necessarily give you the same results for everything you might be watching. In other words, not everything is going to suddenly sound like your best recordings just because it is passing through the 105's DACs.

Thanks for the reply. In your opinion is it worth upgrading to the bdp105 and keeping the denon or upgrading the denon with a new receiver. I am more interested in upgrading the sound quality.

For sound quality, the 105 will pretty much best any mass market receiver out there IMO. My 83SE still has a pretty decent edge over my UMC-200, and the UMC sounds pretty good.

I am 90% certain that you cannot tell the difference between having the Sat's audio going through the 3805 and the 105 in a sighted listening test and is 100% certain that you cannot tell the difference in even a single blind test. The 3805 is a great AVR in terms of sound quality and it won't be the limiting factor when the source is a TV broadcasting signal. So in my opinion, for all the work and having to put up with the inconvenience, it is not worth involving the 105.

thanks

thanks Peng and Gene for your opinion I think I will hold off for now because the 3805 is a nice sounding receiver with my paradigm srudio 40 speakers. If I was to repace the denon for the benefit of HDMI which receiver would I need to maintain the same quality in the amp section. thanks in advance.
