Spent some time listening to stuff I can't afford tonight...

On the way back from NH, me and the wife stopped into Natural Sound in Framingham, awesome place if anyone is ever in the area...
We listened to some new B&W diamonds {I have heard most of the line before, now I heard them all}, some maggies {3.7's}, my favorite out of everything we heard, their low end is lacking, BUT they make up for it with a HUGE soundstage and I use subs so who cares about the bottom end... Some PSB's T2's a very nice speaker by the way, for them tiny drivers they have some low end punch.... Sonus bookshelfs, towers, all kinds of stuff, I was lost in there for a few hours.... Im thinking about having them come out with a set of them maggies and test them out in my room, I am not ready to get rid of my evo's but I think I can squeeze them in next to them... Just have to work on the price, he said it out loud in front of the wife soooo, that will take some splaining how they show up when they do, might have to scratch them and say they were on sale...

Its official, I am addicted to listening, he asked what kind of music do you like, and I said everything, I love walking in and from first look they think they have me pegged and throw on some aerosmith, lol, then I hand him my demo disk which starts off with Greig in the hall of the mountain king, and has everything from Bruce and Pink Floyd to Paul simons soles of her shoes and suzie Q.. I have a bunch of songs on there that I know very well its from years of listening and knowing what to look for in each song... By the end of the cd they are always asking if they can dub it, although he showed me a new one for the collection I am going to have to play with... THESE BONES - YouTube I already bought it on itunes, lol.. Just a good song, I never heard a song with vocals that my sub picked up ,lol...

When ever we are taking a road trip I always look up audiophile stores that are on the way, thats how I hear so many speakers, but this store just happens to be where I would buy a set of speakers, they are about 40 minutes away from me and have an awesome trade up program...

You had me on the floor laughing with that line. Thanks.
Don't laugh I have done it.. Is it lying? Not really, I brought home a juke box for my collection, she knows the gentleman wanted $8900 for it, so the guy just happened to have some broken panels for the front of the machine, a few weeks later the machine shows up with the broken panels- she says "you bought it broken" I said "the guy did that, and I got an awesome deal, them panels are worth $3000 and just happen to have some good panels back at the garage"

See I didn't lie, I got a good deal, he did put the broken panels it, and I did have the panels at the garage, so I paid exactly what it cost with the unbroken panels, because he switched them for me and gave me the good ones, its not lying, just being creative with the truth.... The trick was to have it show up when she was busy with something else, I seen my chance when she was organizing a car wash for the kids league, so now there are a ton of her friends over, shes busy, I unpack it and move it into place, take out the old panels, and make sure not to rush the new ones in, I gave it a few days, then she said "it looks good".. DONE, I got my juke box, she thinks I didn't pay almost $10K for it and everyone is happy...

And don't ask me how I know that yellow colored pencil makes wood looked scratched {use a ruler, freehand scratches look fake}, then erases with a magic eraser like it was never there...

I like the sound of magnepans, but they need room and power to sound their best. Definitely would want to have a trial run and make sure they work in your room. I'd love to put them in my office, but at 12' x 14' I don't think there's quite enough room. The other thing about maggies is they sound great in the sweet spot, but not so much elsewhere.

What I notice with maggies is they cant be close to anything, lol, away the wall a bit, away from the listener a bit, they do like a lot of power and a good sized room, both of which I have, I would get an XPR2 to power them and my room is 400+sw ft with 22ft ceilings, lol... they are interesting speakers...
