The more I educate myself on Amp, the more confused I get

Running the following:

Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH Receiver
Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD Blue Ray Player
Energy CF-70 Towers (Front Left and Right)
Energy CC-10 Center
Energy CB-20 Bookshelf (Surround Left and Right)
Energy CB-10 Bookshelf (Rear Surround Left and Right)
Energy ESW-C8 Sub

I would like to run a two channel amp to my front L/R and let me AVR handle the rest; those CF-70 I know would be very happy with 200+ per channel of power...

If money were no object, I wouldn't be entering this thread...LOL...

Any suggestions??? I have scoured my local craigslist and Ebay, but not finding anything right off

What is my price range, well definitely not in the $1000 category, would love to find something at best buy, just because I have a BBCC and the rewards program....Thoughts, comments.....

Crown XLS DriveCore 1500. Available at Guitar Center. Easy return policy. Also Emotiva XPA-2. They have a 30 day return policy but you have to pay shipping back. All new all warrantied.

interesting, first thank you for your response...
Previous to this, my original set of speakers on this AVR were Polk TSI series, all bookshelf etc...so getting a separate amp really didn't seem reasonable...

Once I upgraded to these energy speakers, now I am working with more robust power ranges etc...

I hooked up just the sub and L & R front this week, my surrounds, center, and rear won't be in until this friday...so honestly I haven't hear all speakers on this AVR yet...

So your suggestion is to just replace the 8" sub with another/larger sub and just let everything ride as is....correct?

Now I have to say right now, the L & R do not sound as good as I thought they might, but again I have re-calibrated my system since I do not have all of the pieces in place yet...

Them energy speakers are easy to run, your avr will do that no problem, get rid of that sub... Best buy sells SDS12's for $600 shipped!!! No brainer if you ask me, I heard that and the sds10 {just smaller}, and I was so amazed how much bass comes out of these little guys, it has 2-12" units inside of it, one firing forward and one firing down, designed by bob carver, what ever he did, its INSANE... Sunfire Dynamic Subwoofer System Black Ash SDS-12 - Best Buy if you can return your sub, get 2 of them sds12's and let me know if your house is still standing, lol...

I'm not sure what the graph geeks will say, but for the size and cost its a pretty impressive unit, heres the measurements... http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/article/review-sunfire-dynamic-series-sds-12-subwoofer?page=0,2

You can always go the HSU route too, How many sq feet is your room? and what is your non best buy budget? VTF2 is what I use (now have 2 of them, but only run one unless the movie calls for it} they are around $600 each...

A) $600 shipped is actually not such amazing deal. I would place an alert and watch it till it's gets cheaper - Sunfire SDS12 Black Ash 12-inch 300-watt Powered Subwoofer | Amazon price tracker / tracking, Amazon price history charts, Amazon price watches, Amazon price drop alerts | camelcamelcamel.com

b) The graph is not impressive to me for $600 (very impressive at 350-400 - comparable to PA-120 sub, but not for $600 one)

c) $600 land is dominated by now Rythmic LV12R Rythmik LV12R - rear vented HT sub

d) The sub decision will be heavily depending on your room size

e) adding amp will not make your speakers sound better, but room treatments will

For all that responded to my questions, many thanks...

I am working on returning my sub as I type this message....not sure I can go for some of the models listed above due to price, but I will definitely move up the food chain so to speak on the sub...Again thanks so much

I was pretty impressed with the size and output of that sub, I would go with the hsu vtf2 for less money if it were me , but out of all the subs I ever seen at best buy that little guy looked about the best to me.. Did you ever hear one? they are powerfull little monsters...

Have not heard sds12. With 12" driver, 300W amp and passive rad the design looks solid and Fr response looks decent, just not very flat nor it has very low extension,
but as you have mentioned - sds12 is look promising if sub size is a concern

Its honestly th eonly nice sub I ever seen best buy offer, I was in one of their theaters and they had some high dollar ($2000plus) martic logan sub playing that was horrid for the price, maybe $6-700 but thats it not 2000+...

What would your budget be? and what is the room size, there are really good non-best buy subs out there.. do you have room for 2 subs? 2 cheaper subs may surpass one expensive unit...
Price range will help the most..
