Hmmm. How does this make sense? ProJect RPM 1.3 Genie vs. Project Debut Carbon.

I am in the market for a turntable.

In the UK the Pro-Ject RPM 1.3 Genie runs about £254.00 vs the Debut Carbon at £299.00.

In the US/Canada and on various sites its the other way around, the RM 1.3 is $499 and the Carbon is $399 what gives? I am trying to choose which table to purchase and assumed that the RM 1.3 was more advanced (wrongly perhaps.) Any idea which one is actually better? Has anyone done a side by side comparison. Notice they call it an RPM 1.3 in the UK and an RM 1.3 in the US.

Further, Any idea why the discrepancy in price? Is there something different between the European RPM 1.3 Genie, and the US RM 1.3? Cheers in advance.
Thanks John...

Carbon fiber tone arm? I'm a composite engineer. Turntables are not a good application for carbon lol, "**** they do to market products"

I disagree. I have some warped albums that my radio Shack turntable could not track that my Project turntable with the carbon fibre tonearm can. I also have much less mechanical feedback with the Project as well. The tonearm on the technics is not nearly as good as a performer than the tonearm on my table.

Can you explain why a TT is not a good platform for using carbon?
