Using a 230v (UK) CD player in the US on 110v

I'm looking at a used CD player that's for sale and it runs off of 230v and has UK plugs. Now a plug adapter is no trouble. What concerns me is the cost of safely stepping down the voltage without risking damaging the CDP or reducing it's life expectancy, any tips?

You would need a step up transformer to convert the voltage from 110 to 230V. Is it a UK player running on 50 Hz? That 10 Hz disparity may also affect its playback capabilities even though the electronics runs off of the filtered power supply.

Seriously, I have no life.

Seth, that is likely more trouble than it is worth.

You can have an electrician instal a dryer outlet, which is 240 volts, but you must also be certain that the player can run on 60 Hz.

Sounds like its pretty unanimous. I had thought there was a good reason not to do that. Thanks for the advice.
