What is the EQ dial on my subwoofer for?

I've recently purchased an entry level subwoofer (back in India) and was wondering what the 'EQ' dial on the back panel would be used for? How would it be different from a 'Volume' dial?

Hi. Is that function discussed in the owners manual? My guess is that it's like a parametric equalizer that will boost or cut the response in a given frequency band, but because there's no dial to set the center frequency, I'm guessing that frequency is set by the manufacturer - so it should be in the manual.

Unfortunately there's no user manual with the product.

This. Without knowing what frequency it is boosting or cutting, I would probably either do some experimenting with it to see what I liked, or simply leave it centered and never touch it.

Knowing the brand and model might help locate a manual online to find out more.

If you haven't already, I recommend contacting the company from the info on that website and asking them.
