For anyone who has purchased an Olive. Have you had problems and had to deal with their customer service? Horrible! We spent $1,000s on this system and it lasted for 6 months. Sent it back and we can't get anyone to talk to us. Finally after 6 weeks we got an email only. We practically begged for someone to call us but that didn't happen. The email response was that they were waiting on parts. We do not know what to do because we can't find a phone number anywhere and they obviously are not willing to talk to us. I have not had such poor customer service ever! Any suggestions?

It is intolerable that a supposedly reputable high-end vendor cannot be reached by phone. Does anyone have a clue of what's going on? Must my failed Opus 4 be junked?

Unhappily, the hard drive on my Olive Opus 4 has failed. The unit, which had been acting flakey, will no longer boot. The vendor offers no succor for this allegedly "legacy" device.

Can it be repaired? What tools are need to open the cover? What drive replacement would work? Is this a job I could undertake by myself?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear your story. I'm experiencing the same now. I received the same email about parts, and yet I have not even sent them my 04HD for diagnosis. Please tell me it ended well. Did you ever get your unit repaired?

I'm with all of you who have problems with the earlier Olive products. Have had a 04HD, loaded with many hundreds of CDs, some of which I no longer have. It has failed, won't respond to touch-screen commands, won't rip more CDs, pretty useless. Live in the San Francisco Bay Area, picked up the unit originally from their location on Howard Street, had good communication with their programming staff (1 person), but now impossible to talk to anyone. They have moved, don't answer any calls, respond to emails only to say that parts are not available, they can't take the Olive back for service, we're on our own, and now I have a very expensive door-stop or boat anchor. I believe that all of their effort is being put to advertising and selling the OliveONE, which I wouldn't recommend to anyone based on their lack of customer service.

Does anyone know about the RipNAS products? I'd like to get information about them or any other CD based servers or music libraries available. Looks like we'll have to start all over and re-rip CDs from scratch, one at a time, and would not want to get another product that would become obsolete in a few years with no recourse for recovery.

I don't know much about olive products, but why not try removing the hard drive and attaching it to your computer with a dock?
