Hi Guys,

i am planning on an upgrade.

I currently have Shure SRH440 Headphone and am thinking of upgrading

I use them music as well as movies when its to late to use my speakers. I find after long periods of use generally the length of a film they hurt the top of my head, i also find if i move slightly i can hear a creaking sound of the plastic moving.

I am really looking to keep the price between £100 - £150

Thanks

Quick question. Why not use your UE 5 Pro they are great for just about anything thrown at it. Coincidentally I found mine on Sunday in a bag, which got a bit wet and here I am ready to throw them out and guess what they are still great. They were in the case too. I guess no water got in the speaker holes. I'm burning them in cause I have not used them in years.
Here would be my choice. I love mine:
Amazon.com: Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor Headphones with Coiled Cable: Musical Instruments

If anything I found ath-m50 the most overrated headphones ever. They are overly bassy and will probably good for you in you into that sort of music - aka mostly HipHop

I found that full-size open headphones are most comfortable for me for longer period. They deliver the best sound and only real issue with them they don't do good sound isolation = aka people around you could hear what you listening to if it's loud enough

Here are some highly recommended models:
Amazon.com: Sennheiser HD 600 Open Dynamic Hi-Fi Professional Stereo Headphones (Black): Electronics
Amazon.com: beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 250 Ohm Headphone (Black/Silver): Electronics (you might want to get the 32ohm version, depends on your source. Desktop amp = 250ohm ok, mobile device - stick with 32)
Amazon.com: Audio-Technica ATH-AD900X Audiophile Open-Air Headphones: Electronics

Option b) or go with hybrid - Semi-Open - AKG K 240 MKII Semi-Open Circumaural Headphones at zZounds

Well If you have a EQ on the source that will not be a problem. I don't like tons of bass, so I tone mine down on music to sound more realistic, but on HT well that's another thing. It deserves all the hype it gets IMHO.

Yes you are right the the UE 5 Pro have great sound I just find that i have to adjust them now and again so i prefer Headphones for my AMP/HT and the Earphones for my iPod. I actually don't like the fit of my UE 5 Pro i don't get as good a seal as i did with my Shure Earphones.

I think the next earphone will be ones that support custom molding :D

The Sennheiser RS 170 wireless are my current favorites. Great sound, good range and not fatiguing to wear.
Ye there are a bit strange shape i guess if the sound is good that's not really and issue, id rather have better sound thank looks. i have an old WiFi router in the same room using the same frequency range, do you get any interference?

None at all. I have both 2.4G and 5G wireless networks. I don't begin to receiver breakup until I am 30 ft. or so from the base station, and coming back in range (or around a corner) quickly resolves.

Wouldn't that be nice! Now that I have my systems set up and enjoyed I seldom wear headphones anymore, even when I do I flash back to years of discomfort!
