Powered sub to receiver rumble

I bought a new bic f12 powered sub to go with my pioneer 1020k receiver. It's set up in 7.1 format. I hooked up the sub through the lfe out from receiver to the in for the sub. I've got the system set to small for my front, center, side and rear in wall speakers and in the settings for xover I set it to 80hz. When I turn the power on the sub halfway I hear a rumble all the time. I keep it set at 4 on the power but it barely hits hard this way. What can I adjust to eliminate the rumble so I can increase the power on the sub, or is there an alternative method.

I've adjusted the xover from 50 to 100 but its still present. Thanks for any help.

Try turning the power off to everything, and then disconnect the subwoofer from the receiver. Then turn the subwoofer back on, and turn the volume up halfway on it. If it rumbles then, you have a defective subwoofer you need to return for a replacement.

Correct. I have one of those and it should not rumble all the time. No sub should.

Does it do it when it's not connected to anything?

Put the sub volume starting at the 9 o'clock position-12 o'clock, Phase 0 and crossover freq all the way up. Run Mic again. Sub setting should be 0 on your receiver. the sub crossover should be 120.

It doesn't rumble when not connected. Where do I set crossover freq all the way up. Do you mean to 120 on the sub. What about sub setting to 0. Is that in the receiver setting. I've got that at 2 db I believe. Also what is run mic again

Thanks. These are very good. I ran the auto calibration with the receivers mic. It set my treble low on most of the channels. I had them all max to start because I think it sounded clearer. I know have my receiver volume -40 when I had it at -50. Bass does hit harder but I can't hear the words as clear in my opinion. Guess I will have to keep slowly adjusting.

You'll get it after you read those articles. Good luck and report back when you set it up.
