Looks like the A370 I used to use with my Tempest. VERY solid amp.

I have now, but it should be noted that looks don't tell the story. I haven't heard of any issues with them so they probably have a good supplier, but that doesn't really change my views on plate amps. I'd much rather have a passive sub with an external amp. If something goes wrong it's easy to swap it out.
Great minds think alike. ;) :D

The $15K Focal Utopia sub is unpowered.

The new flagship Funk 18.2 sub is also unpowered w/ outboard amp.

Only the best.... :D

IIRC, they make their own amps.

I'm "guessing" that he probably gets them constructed in China, but it's pure speculation on my part. But, he did design them himself. Remember these have to have the servo-circuitry too.

If something goes wrong with my Rythmik, then I drive across town and take it to Bryan, the owner.

I am pretty sure they do get them built in China or Taiwan, I don't recall. I sold the sub and amp so I'd have to go to my buddy's house, who I sold it to, to check :) (or ask Bryan).

That's awesome support. I'd love to check out their facilities. I just found out they are in Austin which is where my Parents live. I may have to pay them a visit. Do you know if they do tours or demos?

It ain't much to look at. Just a spot in one of those industrial parks in not-the-greatest part of town. I didn't see the back "production" area, just the front "office" area. The front had all sorts of boxes ready to ship and drivers ready to load into cabs and amps etc, really it was a work area too and not an office at all. I think it's probably a 3-4 man operation. No demo area.

However, with all that being said, I'm pretty sure he would give you a tour. When you talk to him, it is pretty obvious that this is a passion as much as a career for him. A friendly and knowledgeable guy with degrees in EE and Acoustic Engineering. I'm sure that he realizes that almost all of his business has been generated by word-of-mouth, so it would be an opportunity to gain several more customers by giving you some of his time.

So Epik is still going to make subs...or what? lol

Seems like their Empire was big hit and I wanted to pick one up, but if there isn't going to be an Epik if the amp goes, then heck no

Based upon how they're behaving at this point I would think they're already gone. The only thing left to do is make an announcement. Caveat emptor...

Epik Subwoofers News Blog

Hello to all who have been patiently waiting for an update from us here at Epik. We apologize for the wait, but assure you that the wait was worth it.
Epik had a hugely successful end of 2012. We sold out of product much faster than anticipated. In fact, product was selling out before we even got to our Cyber Week sale. We expected to have product in stock until March/April, but sold out by December. We think that the sudden surge in sales was partially due to a couple of our competitors announcing that they were going out of business last year.
Nobody knew that behind the scenes we were working on a new product lineup. We typically don’t like announcing product before it is ready to sell, but we think it is time to let the cat out of the bag. New products and components always have small delays. Product being sold out of stock too quickly combined with the new product not being ready yet has left us with anxious customers and not much to say for the past few months. As a result, we have a nice surprise for everybody who has been waiting patiently.
I’ve talked to hundreds of people on the phone in the past few months about upcoming product, but sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words: Epik Subwoofers News Blog

As I said in another thread. Your crazy if you buy from Epik now. You can't just go MIA for 6months and expect everyone to be cool wit hit. Their are several ID companies providing an equal or better product to epik while also having quality customer service.

Excellent customer service right here...NOT! Their statement made me LOL.. Patiently waiting with no info at all ,for what 5 months? All they did was successfully kill off their clientele! No customer service at all, none! Can't even hire someone to get on the forums and keep clients happy. You would have to be a complete idiot to trust this company. There are way too many better companies out there than to risk it from this guy..

Very good idea. I can't help but think its all Chad or maybe him and like one other person. They needed someone on the forums. Hell they needed to show they weren't going out of business.
