It seems funny that in 2008 many sites announced that Harman Kardon would be releasing a new flagship, one to be excited about. Apparently Harman Kardon must have turned off professional sites such as this, because the announcement in 2009 on this website never followed up with any professional review. I know all about the new reciever lineups from Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, and Marantz but nothing from Harman Kardon. I sure would like to know the reason. Better yet, I would like to read a professional review on this reciever or even any of the rest of the current lineup from Harman Kardon. What gives?

The 7550HD was released mid-year 2009..
It is an incredible AVR for audio, video, network and internet radio. Also Room EQ software works very well especially for its (2) subwoofer feature, EQing each..

Last year HK had a complete changeover in their product marketing/development teams so they are still in-process of revamping their marketing strategy...
Also they have revised significantly their distribution channels as well in North America making their products a little more select in availability as they move away from the big-box sellers like Best Buy...

Just my $0.01.. ;)

While it is generally my policy not to feed trolls, I'll bite. We would never turn down review samples of any receiver from HK (or anyone really). If you notice, we have no (recent at least) reviews of any of their products. Believe me, the breakdown is not on our end. Direct your inquiry to HK and find out why they are afraid to have a rigorous review done here.

I am eagerly waiting for my 7550 which is replacing a 3650 that had issues. I have been looking for weeks for a professional review unsuccessfully. How could they have avoided any review on this unit?

Didn't you read Tom's response? Do you think these sites/magazines buy the units they test? Silly wabbit. Trix is for kids.

All H/K has to do is lend them a unit so they could review it and allow them to publish their findings.

I guess you missed that, did't you?

I take it you had the HMDI sound dropout issues? I think I saw your issues on AVS. I returned a 2650 for the same reason. A 7550 is pretty old. It doesn't pass 3D does it?

The 7550 will apply Logic 7 to all signals even DD 5.1 and DTS. :D

Mark - the original question could have been referring to HK as the "they." ;)
