Minimalist 2.1 Setup (Oppo 95 & Active Speakers?)

I have a question, just out of curiosity.

The Oppo-95 has analog outputs and a volume control (can someone confirm volume? Don't see a photo on their website...)

For a 2.1 music system that occasionally played movies.... what would be the downside of using an Oppo 95, an active subwoofer with high pass, and active speakers? I guess if you wanted to add another source... but, the Oppo has it pretty much covered...

Just had me thinking the simplicity factor. Like for people with wives/SO that don't want to switch on a receiver, then a blu-ray, mess with a universal remote, etc. Or just someone who wants a nice minimalist setup...

The OPPO volume control is DIGITAL, instead of analog.

I think most people's concern is when the player RESETS.

As long as your wife knows how to change the volume on the OPPO, I see no issue.

Find a post on Audioholilcs by djreef and check out his setup in the sig. Pretty much what you were talking about. Hopefully he will give an opinion, or send him a PM.
