Welcome to the forum!

How do you have the receiver connected to your TV? On the VSX-522, the OSD will only appear when you use the analog RCA "MONITOR OUT" connection to your TV. The OSD will not appear if you use HDMI. That's covered on page 14 in your owners manual (link to PDF version here).

Does your TV have a yellow (composite) video input? Looks like you connected it to one of the three required inputs for a component video input - which isn't the right way to connect that video output from the receiver.

What is the model number of your TV?

What is the model number of your TV? It's possible that it has a combined component/composite video input.

I've read that the green should work, albiet it will only be a B & W picture.

I say "should" because I've never done it myself. But, hey, I read it on the internet so it's gotta be true, right?

Okay, got it. The "g" that you referred to is the jack labeled as "Y/VIDEO" on the TV, correct? That looks like a green connector in the manual (but it's yellow on their website). If that's not what you did, then do that.

Next, did you select "Video" as the source on your TV? You'll need to do that.

I have the earlier VSX521 in my bedroom. The OSD works like a champ with a cable from the mon output to the composite video (yellow input) on my Panasonic TV. As Mark and Grador explain, you use the green input on your tv for composite. The OSD, by the way, is black and white and not terribly important. You only need to use it to run the auto calibration routine. After than you can forget about it.
