Put's it right there with the 2 way Revelator kit by Zaph. I would love to build both.

The write up is really interesting. I find it interesting that Jeff has now used these in his own home. I think that says a lot considering the vast amount of speakers he has not only designed but also listened to.

I will be looking at these very closely as an option for the top end of a reference 3 way. The only concern I have is Jeff's mention of them not being the strongest in regards to heavier music such as rock. I will have to do some more research

It does look interesting. Jeff Bagby's write ups are always full of information.

After reading it over, I don't think it makes sense to use this potent and expensive (~$290) 6½" woofer in a 3-way design. You wouldn't be taking full advantage of its low end response, and you could possibly get better off-axis response from a smaller diameter mid range driver. Just a thought.

I think I'll get to hear these at InDIYana in April :). Very much looking forward to that!!

Isn't it a MT, not a 3 way? I'm not a fan of the slanted front just from a physical looks standpoint. Still can't wait to hear it though!

Yeah, its a 2-way speaker, with vented cabinet Fb about 35 Hz, and F3 of 44 Hz.

When annunaki said "I will be looking at these very closely as an option for the top end of a reference 3 way", I assumed he meant add a larger woofer to the existing 6½" woofer and ring-dome tweeter, and make it a 3-way design.

I meant more to fill out the low end rather than to actually change anything here. Although I will be looking at a full active design rather than passive. They always seem to have more dynamic capability.

Sorry for the dumb question, but how do you do a full active system? Do you have to have 2 separate amps, one for lows and one for tweets if it's a 2 way; then would you need 3 amps for a 3 way? Plus, how do you cross them over? Would you have to find amps w/ a crossover?

An active crossover is required and is inserted prior to the amplification, so yes you would need an amp channel for each portion to be driven.

Jgarcia is right. Each driver requires its own channel of amplification. The active crossover such as a mini dsp goes in the signal chain just before the amplifier.

I would much rather go the route of the mini dsp. There is significantly more flexibility than the Synergy kit. Interesting concept though of course.

I don't doubt the mini DSP or something similar has more flexibility.

I just wanted to get the info out here and get some opinions on it. I don't recall ever seeing an amp quite like this.
