follow-up. I called comcast almost a week ago. They <!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]-->Initially told me I would receive a call back to schedule an appt within 24 hours. But after 4 days, I called again. They said, yes we have your ticket open, and then went on to say, there is a problem in my area and they are "working on it" Long story short, they are putting me off...<!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <![endif]-->
With the weekend coming up, and if you're a little handy, you can find where your cable enters the house.
Look for it's grounding block and check its connections, and trace the ground wire to see if it has a proper connection to a ground rod or water pipe.
The integrity of outdoor connections degrade over time and need to be cleaned and re-tightened.
Adding an Anti-oxidant will help protect any outdoor connections: Ideal NOALOX 4 oz. Anti-Oxidant Compound 30-026 at The Home Depot

Thanks Rickster! I really appreciate the help. I've been in lazy mode the past few days:) I think I will try what you suggest this weekend. I only hear it during quiet passages of movies and my receiver is turned up to -20.0db.

Oppo 103 buzzing noise playing cd's.

The 103 is hookup to a Denon with (2) HDMI cables. Video in the #1 location CD's are played using #2. Noise is coming from the back surroundsound speakers, mainly through the tweeters. Playing a video through HDMI #1 is quiet. However CD's when paused, I will hear the noise on both HDMI #1 or #2. I tried putting a ground isolation on the Oppo 103 however the noise is still there.

Sounds like you might want to call Oppo on that one.. Try setting the audio processing to down-mix to 5.1, just for s*!@% and giggles, and see what happens.

Ah, the old humming/buzzing/RF interference/grounding issue. I found a .38 slug to the right temple usually does the trick. :D

Various causes, various fix’s … but before you murder the dog or your neighbor I would verify the water table your house stands on. After weeks of troubleshooting & money spent on equipment to repair the problem it was still an intermittent issue. Flash forward to a block party 2 weeks later and I’m singing the blues to a neighbor, who’s an electrician. He tells me that it’s pretty well a problem for everyone in the cul-de-sac that sits at the bottom of the valley; even at his house, whenever it rains. In my case he was spot on. After every heavy rainfall it would start up again until the water table receded. As Anne Peebles used to sing on the old blues standard, “I can’t stand the rain ….” See no matter how well your house is grounded, when the water table rises you’re s&*t out of luck. Of course the cable company could be at fault, so could your speaker cables/connectors (sub-woofer connections are notorious for this) or the grounding in the electrical service box in your house is shoddy. Happy hunting.
