Why I choose Bluray over streaming

Wow, Mark Henninger went through a lot of effort to create that post. Nice job! It's practically a magazine article. I've used Vudu, Amazon, Crackle, and Netflix, and they all claim to do 1080i, but even on my relatively modest 40" Sony monitor it's pretty obvious that a Bluray has superior video quality to streaming. I'd even say the upscaled DVDs I play appear to be better than most of the streamed videos I watch. Not all of them, but most. If I were serious about HT I'd be a Bluray collector too.

Not to mention that you can't stream lossless audio, a deal breaker for me.

I notice audio to be the biggest drawback especially in LFE performance.

I feel the audio is pretty decent from Netflix and Amazon Prime (640K). It is NOT on par with BD audio though.

Article or not, it doesn't take much to see that the best quality streamed is still not as good as BD. With Prime, I've gotten a few discs recently and they provide you with a HD rental of the same film. I watched Prometheus on both and there is NO question that the BD is easily superior in every category.

Same here. Yes the video quality isn't as good, but for most content I don't really feel that it's obnoxiously bad. That said it's so rare for my subwoofer to even turn on with streaming content that I may as well not have it.

I watch a lot of streaming movies and TV shows through my local cable company/ISP. Quality varies according to the day and time with Sunday PM the worst. Even in the best case scenario it never equals Blu Ray. If a movie is a favorite (most aren't these days) I'll invariably buy it. If it's a favorite britcom or not readily available to purchase I watch it on Amazon Prime. Streaming is nice and convenient. It ain't Blu Ray.
