Hello - I am looking to buy a better quality turntable to be able to 1 - listen to my collection and 2 - put my collection on to itunes. I have around 700 LP's from the 1980's that have never been played. I had a good friend with the same music taste (and same collection) and we recorded cassettes off of his LP's. I really miss the sound of vinyl compared to CD's and am looking to buy a higher end (my budget is $1500) turntable with a good cartridge.
I've called some dealers in my area (there aren't many who sell turntables here) and here are my choices:
Rega , Project Audio and Music Hall.

I'd really appreciate any advice that you could pass my way. Looking forward to learning more from this forum.
Thanks,

Brad

I really don't think you will be disappointed by any of those.

Here's a couple of online retailers that you may want to check out

Sorry slipperybidness, was so excited to get a response I messed up your name :) After visiting the stores in the area I've decided on the Rega RP6 - I have one question, should I go with the Ortofon 2m Bronze or the 2M Black?

I don't have experience with either of those. But, I'm sure someone on here can help you.

Thanks again, the dealer is suggesting upgrading the cartridge to the 2M bronze - just not sure about whether I'll hear the difference between the Bronze or the Black - hopefully someone here can chime in.

The 2M black.

There is a Thorens 125 turntable on Ebay right now with an SME series 2 improved arm. This unit will best anything on your short list by a wide margin. You will still have enough money to buy the 2M Ortofon Black and be in budget.

Here is mine with a series 3 arm.
