Fax/scanner/printer/copier

So I got a new all-in-one yesterday as I need one for the new job. My main need is a printer and ability to scan into emails. On occasion, I need to fax something. The issue is when they installed my U-Verse, he changed my telephone plug to an Ethernet plug.

The Staples guy, whom seemed to know a lot about all-in-one's, said that they made them with Ethernet faxing capabilities but the one's he carried didn't have "auto-feed" for the scanner which is something I wanted. I ended up getting a HP Officejet 6600.

So now that it's all hooked up I am wondering what my options are for the fax. I am thinking I need to get U-Verse out here and install a new jack. Is there any other way around this?

The system is set up wireless if that matter at all.

I know this doesn't belong in the Stream-vent but I like it here.

If you send faxes only occasionally, why not get an e-fax number? Then you only need a locally networked printer/scanner.

I have used myFax for a few years and never had any issues with lost faxes or quality of transmission not being acceptable. Added benefit is incoming faxes are already digitized to PDF format.

That may be the best solution. I guess since I have to have a land-line for my security system and I have a fax machine, I was hoping for an easy solution without spending any money.

You can ink-jet all-in-one from HP which supports eFax, like this one: Amazon.com: HP Photosmart 7510 All-in-One with eFax Printer: Electronics (it has ADF you want as well)
Also good news, it allows free eFaxs (but limited to certain size - 20pg?, paid account required for more )
but would highly recommend to stay away from ANY ink printers in favor of Laser printers. Unfortunately I couldn't find laser all in one with support for eFax or similar service.
Simple reason toner doesn't dry out if unused. I still use my very and very reliable Samsung laser printer which I bought 8 years ago and still use ORIGINAL toner supplied with printer.
With laser printer got so much cheaper, there is no reason.

Thanks man.

I actually just tried the free sample from myfaxed per agarwalro's suggestion and it was pretty neat and I think it will work fine for my needs. It shot a fax directly to my S3 and I was able to wirelessly shoot it to my printer. Technology, who would have thunked it...
