Are Hybrid Amps worth the money?

I have seen some low end brand hybrid amps stating 2000 - 3000Ws (200 - 250rms @ 8ohm etc) in the $300 range. I am sure these numbers are probably inflated some, but the real question is if they are worth their price. For a simple home theatres, would these work. And if anyone has used these, their feedback would be great.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Sounds shady to me.

If you need that kind of wattage check out the Peavey IPR and the Yamaha P Series.

Please post more info. Links to the exact amps in question.

Any manufacturer that so grossly overstates the capabilities of their product is automatically questionable in my opinion.

Tried to post link, but didn't get posted. I saw one model number P3001AT that is what I was describing.

A 3000W PRE-AMPLIFIER???

By definition, a preamplifier is a voltage gain amplifier that takes signal level voltages to a line level voltage. I'm guessing that when they call it "hybrid amplifier", they mean "integrated amplifier"?

Also, I think that 3000W spec is shady. I'm sure it will do the job that it was designed for, but there is no free lunch, you get what you pay for. Probably not the greatest for HT duty. What kind of setup did you have in mind?

Even preamp is wrong.. This is a chareooke amp or should I say receiver..

Good point. Personally, I think I just see too many questionable items all-around to make this worthwhile to me. Maybe in a non-critical listening situation.

I was looking to just power a sub (200W RMS). Thats all. Something simple, but not tube amp or plate.

Everything Pyle makes is low end. I wouldn't even be looking at their stuff.

I'd buy one for the garage just so I could annoy the neighbours with my voice while washing the cars!! :p

Looking at the manual of the aforementioned Pyle, it lists a frequency response of 40Hz-15kHz +/-2dB, so I'd probably not use it for a sub either.

My in wall sub is: DVC 200W RMS, 400W Peak
Frequency Response: 30Hz - 3K Hz
8 Ohm Impedance
