Here is my current setup
1. harmon kardon avr 325 av
2.Polk Audio PSW10 10-Inch Monitor Series Powered Subwoofer (Single)
3. bose computer speakers

I mainly listen to electronic/house music like deadmau5 (dont hate).

I live in a puny 590sqft studio apartment in highrise, walls are fairly thick but i cannot go crazy with bass .

I am looking for speakers to replace my bose speakers that are
1. ~$1000
2. compact and beautiful

The Ascend Sierras are looking pretty good for $1k in your criteria. I would also be looking at the NHT Classic Threes for bookshelf speakers under $1k. The Swan D1.1se look very nice for $1k although I don't know much how it sounds, its really pretty though. The same goes for the Dana 6401 Monitor. I would also be looking for what KEF has for bookshelf speakers in your price range.

Ascend Acoustic Sierra-1 - great speakers and beautiful as well. If you can afford it go for the off-menu NRT tweeter upgrade but they are pretty darn good without it as well.
