I recently purchased a new a/v receiver an Integra 40-4 and I understand I need a wifi usb dongle to connect to the net through the receiver. My question is, in researching the uwf-1 wifi adapter many reviews say it does not connect well. Will any usb wifi dongle work or is only the uwf-1 the only one I can use? I hope this is the place to post as this is my first time on the forum. thanks in advance...

Welcome to the forum!

I'm assuming that you meant the 40.4, but if not, let me know. Sorry, but I don't know if other wifi dongles will work. If they don't, or if you'd rather not mess with it, that receiver comes with an ethernet port on the back panel. So, you can use a wifi adapter like you mentioned, or you can also use an ethernet cable. If you don't have a hardwired connection running to where your receiver is, you can use any wireless access point. We'll be happy to point you towards some if you're aren't familiar with those.

Integra 40.4 wifi

Yes I did mean the 40.4 thanks. Yes I would be interested in anything you tell me concerning the 40.4 capabilities for wifi. My router is several rooms away but I can connect with my laptop and play Pandora on it and that is my goal for the new receiver, Again anything you can tell me about connecting the the net with my receiver (which I love BTW) would be appreciated. thank you!...... The Apple airport express would be a good choice at app. $100. It can be set up as a repeater for your wireless network. It has an ethernet port that you can use to set up a wired connection to your AV receiver. And it will allow you to use airplay with your AV receiver using the AE express's audio out. Use a mini-toslink to toslink cable so you use your AV receiver does the digital to analog work and you are good to go.

Call me newbie but I assume the device attaches into my ethernet port thereby supplying the wireless connection my receiver needs through the Airport device? In other words it supplies the ethernet connection needed without running the cable.

Hi. Yep, that's correct. You'll need a cable between the device and your receiver, but you don't need any cable between your internet modem/router and that device.
