I guess I wouldn't mind forking out the extra $90 if I'm able to upgrade to 7.1 in the future without investing in a new receiver. Not too sure about the networking idea. What's the advantage behind this?
The DLNA certifed networking capability allows you to stream music from your music server such as you desktop PC running Windows 7.

Thoughts from anyone about the 2112? Or whether if I should stick to 1613 or swap to 1912 or...? Options, options everywhere!
The 2112 has the same power specs as the 1912 but it comes with Audyssey XT, a better remote and probably other minor additional features. If you can get one for under $400, then you should go for it. The 1613/1713 weighs only 18 lbs, probably the lightest Denon multichannel AVR ever made.

You can download the spec sheets/manuals of the 2012 models here:

http://usa.denon.com/us/downloads/pages/instructionmanual.aspx

just make sure you click on the search archived products button.

Doesn't address the CCA vs OFC topic, but interesting nonetheless..

@Sooper so what did you decide to go with? :)

Amplifier power has nothing to do with it, resistance is resistance regardless of wattage. Your stance is not backed up by the link that specifically states that unless you know how much copper cladding there is you have no clue what the resistance is. Finally, for 100 feet it will cost a whole $8 more for piece of mind between that RCA 16 gauge CCA and monoprice 16 gauge OFC.

I agree that chances are the CCA is perfectly fine, but is it really worth $8?
Actually, somehow I missed this post of yours too! Relative to the amount I'm investing in my receiver and speakers, an additional $8 won't be detrimental to my bank account. Going monoprice for OFC wire and banana plugs!

hizzaah: OFC it is. Or did you mean which receiver? I still need to give Fry's a call to hopefully get an estimate of the 2112's condition. I'll report back again when I find out and see if anyone here thinks I should avoid it. If all is good, I'll take it because it seems to give the biggest bang for the buck. If not, still on the ropes between 1912 and 1613.

Just stopped by Fry's finally and sadly, no go with the 2112. The only model they had left was the demo model and none of the employees even knew where it was lying around. Not a good sign, that's for sure.

Back to the drawing board for the receiver!

Scratch that! I found a deal online from an authorized Denon dealer for the 2112 new for $327 including shipping.

Took the plunge and went for it! As for the speakers, I PM'd Tiger Direct at Best Buy for $100 per FS52 and $70 for C22. Total $296 for all 3.

Not too shabby, I hope!

Perfect! How long until the receiver shows up? Hopefully you'll have everything up and running by Christmas!

Great price for the 2112! And it comes with a very decent power supply and amp section..

Yep! Thanks for your suggestion to look into the 1912! Couldn't have found the 2112 deal without looking at higher end models.

At long last the receiver has arrived! UPS and their issues, sigh.

I have an issue regarding the Denon 2112 though. Even after the calibration using Audyssey and having my 3.0 system detected, for some reason the receiver automatically switches to stereo when I play a movie (haven't tried anything else). My center isn't being utilized at all...

I checked the manual and couldn't find anything about this. Has anyone run into this before or have a solution? Thanks!

Make sure you are not in direct mode, make sure it is in a dolby or some sort of surround mode...
