Pioneer Elite Plasma Pro-810 HD TV Problems

I have a Pioneer Elite Plasma Pro-810 HD 42 inch TV. We just cancelled Comcast because we were paying through the roof for things we didn't even use. Regardless, I should be able to hook up broadcast TV from an antenna or a coaxial cord from the wall to catch the weekly football game, right? Wrong. The TV does not have coaxial inputs of any kind. So I went to Radio Shack and bought a RF modulator to take the coaxial and turn it into RCA, but then I found out my TV doesn't even have RCA ports, you can read the manual but I believe it has BNC ports or something. This is driving me nuts. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, and happy holidays!

Luckily, I like reading manuals. :) The manual actually shows the back panel for the 1010, so I'll assume that they are similar based on the specifications provided on Pioneer's website for the 810.

It appears that you have an S-Video input - did your modulator happen to have one of those? Btw, you mentioned buying a modulator. Did you buy a digital TV tuner? If not, you need one to convert the antenna feed into audio/video.

I suggest looking into a digital tuner with an HDMI output. Magnavox sells units that also have hard drive DVRs and DVD burners in them, but the new ones costs about $300.

As was stated above, you don't need a modulator anyway you need a DTV tuner. An RF Modulator takes RCA inputs and puts them out on coax for TVs that lack RCA inputs.

The cheapest one I know of is roughly $75ish. I think*, no promises.

A couple of options at the $140 range.
Digital TV Converter Boxes: Digital Set Top Boxes, DVR Converter Boxes - Channel Master Store

And the brand I use (3rd one down). Warning, the supplied remote is the most pathetic remote in the entire history of the world.
ePVision.com - One-Stop place for Full HD 1080p HDMI A/V Switcher Digital HDTV Tuner Receiver Media Box, HD Media Player, HDTV Tuner Set top Box, HDTV PVR Box and more...

Honest truth: If I did it over again, I would splurge for a DVR. I highly recommend you do so. If it seems really expensive at first, well I say treat yourself, it will be "paid off" more quickly than you think by "cutting the cord".

Digital ATSC HD Set-Top Tuner ZAT502 Receiver HDMI Cable Included Off-Air HD Television Terrestrial Supports HDMI Output True HD Signal Quality High Definition TV Home Antenna Aerial Reception, Part # ZAT-502

This was the only thing I found in a quick search that will do what you want.

Try googling around for something like "OTA DTV tuner HDMI"

This is not the way to do it at all, an STB will most always be for cable, it's the way the terminology goes.

Welcome.
Unfortunately you have an expensive video display monitor, not A tv even though it looks like a tv:eek:
So, as mentioned, you need a digital TV tuner.

I went to a Thrift store and found a converter box for $8...plugged in the audio connectors in and used the s-video out from the tv into the RCA port on the converter box and now we get over 50 channels. You can find an antenna for as little as $20 from one of the big box stores
