Sony STR-DN1030 vs. Onkyo TX-NR809

Bought a sony str-dn1030 this week and having potential buyers remorse. Amazon has marked down the Onkyo TX-NR809 to $425. Is the Onkyo a better buy?

My bad. Wanted to get quick feedback since I felt that the deal at Amazon wasnt going to last too long.

Thanks for your response. I ordered the 809 for $426. Seems like a crazy good deal for a receiver at that price point.

The Onkyo appears to be a better deal. I believe it has a high current amp vs the Sony. Better, cleaner power/sound.

Plus, It upconverts to 1080p, Sony is only 1080i

I dont mean to rain on your parade, however I sent a link to the 809 to my brother then he sent me a kink to the amazon customer reviews. Everything from channels not working to units starting on fire.


It looks to me as though Onkyo had a known bad batch and liquidated them to a third party.
