I just bought my first Plasma, a Panasonic VIERA 55" GT50,from Best Buy, It's getting delivered next week, I'm in Ct. and expect the TV to be more or less frozen when it comes, I obviously want to know it works before they leave and they offer to unbox it and set it up, what I'm wondering is, is it ok to turn on a Plasma if it's not a certain temperature? Can Damage be done?
Thanks

It should be fine. It will only be in a truck for a few a hours at most. I'm pretty sure the warehouse is climate controlled.

No guarantee the warehouse will be climate controlled. I bought my plasma from Amazon and their contracted delivery service in Wisconsin was NOT climate controlled. Since the tv sat at about 15 degrees F overnight, I let it sit and warm up for hours before firing it.

No guarantees so best to ask the delivery guys if it was stored in a heated warehouse.

Hard call, you should let it slowly get up to room temp before plugging it in. On the other hand, I have a plasma outdoors on my patio and use it all year long and it's been going strong for 4 years.

BTY...I have a GT50 in my living room. Awesome TV, even in less than perfect light conditions.

This goes for all electronics, give it enough time to come to room temp, and then some more time on top of that. Ever see what happens to a beer bottle after you take it out of the fridge. It gets all wet from the condensation. If this was "frozen", this will last all the longer, and if more massive, same deal. Electronics + condensation = sad clown RickA. I guess this might be a bit over-careful (it's not quite as open as the grille on top of a receiver (but there will still be fan vents), it's probably boxed pretty tightly, and it probably has desiccants inside the box to boot, but better safe than sorry? CT gets damn cold, man!

If it was me, I'd be happy with just checking the glass.
