ETHEREAL ESP601R Power Manager

Looking to ditch the $15 Walmart surge protector and pick up some added protection that also looks nice in a cabinet. I like the Panamax 5300 and 5400 units, but they're $300+. I've seen a few recommendations for this specific unit, but figured I'd see what other people that had more knowledge and maybe more ideas about other products to try out would say.

Don't really need a power conditioner, etc etc...just something to plug in my TV, AVR, Sub, Streaming Device, etc etc. This looks nice and seems to have plenty of protection, plus you can remove the "rack mounts" on the ends and it looks like most other higher end protection units.

Now...what worries me is that it says "limited 3 yr warranty". I wonder if this is a warranty from A4L or the actual units manufac....Ethereal. If at 3 years and 1 day I get a surge and it messes up things then I'd like to know I'm covered to some extent lol. Most offer Lifetime Warranties, so that's a little worrying. Anyone use this or know of any that look like this for a good price?

I believe surge protectors should be used and not seen. I don't spend money on a power device that looks like an audio component.

I also like the ones that promise to replace your gear if it's blown by a surge. Cheap insurance. Don't forget to register! No surge protector in the world can save you from the big hits. Most power is clean enough not to require exotic filtering. I take HUGE exception with the claims of better picture and sound when using a power conditioner.

I wouldn't spend $300+ like all those expensive power centers either, but when you're talking about the same price as a good surge protector, why not have it where it's up with your components and easy to access if needed. I hate having it just hanging out on the floor behind the tv. Looks bad and cheap. I'm a wiring snob lol.

I don't buy into the better pic/sq either, but I'm buying it for ADDED protection.

Which unit are you referring to that's a "component" form factor but at the price of a good surge protector?

Not quite sure I understand what you mean. I meant it would be in the cabinet with the AVR, Cable Box, Streaming device(s), etc etc.

You could get one of these:

Tripp Lite SMART1000LCD SmartPro UPS 1000VA 500W 8 Outlets 125-024

and get battery back up too :D
I'm sure that's nice, but at $160 it's a little much for me. I was just looking at this Ethereal unit b/c it seems to be like the Panamax, TripLite, Monster, etc units but at a much cheaper price due to A4L trying to phase them out..for new units I'd assume. Obviously the Joule rating is a little lower (still quite a bit) and it doesn't have the "line filtering" blah blah blah. My power is pretty clean out here so I don't have to worry about that I don't believe.
