Hey guys,
Looking at buying a new subwoofer. Right now I am using just a older Onkyo Sub, it's not holding up with my 683B's anymore so, im on the market for a sub. Was looking into the Martian Logan Dynamo 1000, something around there. Loud, crisp, bass that can handle really hard hitting rap, and still sound fantastic listening to country, and movies. Looking at spending about a grand. Suggestions?! Im running a Elite SC-61 if that helps at all as well. Thanks guys.

I just bought my first sub last week for $50. That pretty much makes me an expert so I can probably help you. ;)

Seriously though, the real experts are going to want to know how big your room is. In cubic feet.

As Justin mentioned above, please provide more details about your room and your listening preferences. It looks like you are more into music and perhaps some movies. If you can clarify on that, it will be great as well.

In my case, I'm 50/50 (music/movies) and I decided to go with a ported subwoofer. If you are more into music, then you might consider a sealed subwoofer.

Here is a bit of information on multiple subwoofers (real data). So, that might help you to identify a really good subwoofer.

Enjoy!

With $1000, you've got quite a lot of options open to you. As has been mentioned already, room size plays a big role in any recommendation. It's also worth keeping in mind that if the room is open to other spaces (ie you can't close a door to seal it off), you'll want to count the entire volume in your estimate. Also, are there any aesthetic/size requirements? I mean, for ~$1000, you can pick up this puppy:

Data-Bass

While it will deliver quantity and quality all out of proportion to its cost, it isn't winning any beauty contests.

Chase SS18/VS18.1 is certainly not bad way to go.
I'll offer few other options:
First from one of most established names in subs - SVS - PC12/PB12 NSD are very good option, unless you have huge open space.
From HSU - VTF-15H is a monster in any way you can think of - I seen and heard it last week at AH GTG

And last, but not least - really new player on the block - Power Sound Audio
XS15/XV15 - Will deliver very solid performance - they are designed by ex-head of R&D from SVS
