ok ... this is NOT related to my other thread ... because I AINT paying for these. these are for my dad's "real" home theater.

we hired a professional to do the room acoustics etc etc

he plans to use rbh speakers "signature series"
a runco projector
and a silverstar screen

the prices of these mothers are spectacular ... for the names above that i havent heard before in my life. are these any good?

ive heard/seen them myself, although i am impressed ... i dont know if its worth the moolah

thanks clint! ok, these speakers cost about twice to twice and a half of the speakers I AM considering for myself ... do these perform twice better? (than say infinity primus or yamaha ef series)

i guess what im trying to find out are negative comments about these brands before we blindly approve the quotations ...

Mike;

The Yamaha/Infinity speakers you mentioned aren't in the same league as RBH Signature Series. They are more comparible to the RBH CT series products.

If Signature product is not within your budget, you may wish to check out their MC or CT line up.

I dont think you can put RBH Signatures in the same category to compare with infinity primus

Projector selection

The Runco is very hight end, but you might acheive a similar level of performance from a BenQ PE7700 DLP projector for a fraction of the cost.
Also, the silverstar screen is know for its high gain abilities, however, for better color accuracy in a light controlled room, Stewart Filmscreen is another good option.
Make sure you get some decent amps to power the RBH to their potential. Sounds like it will be a killer setup. :D

Hello
Actually depending on the Runco model it may well be a BenQ OEM'd 8700+
With Runco name plate on it ;) The PE 7700 is a solid recommendation
The Optoma H-78 is another

Keep in mind CEDIA is only a few weeks away and I expect several manufactures to announce new projectors in this price class ;)

I'd beware of Runco. According to BMXTRIX (custom installer), he's seen rediculous failure rates on Runco products. Like many other brands, you're paying a lot for the name, not the product itself.

RBH is sexy though...is he going to be opting for in-wall?

thanks guys ...
budget is ok, its my dad's money

we chose the runco 810
rbh signature series (over the MC? series)
yamaha 2500

i dont know about in wall ... im sure they will because they are acoustically treating the whole room

but the two front speakers have subwoofers pointing to the side, so i wouldnt know how that works.

do people not read the articles on this site anymore?

theres TONS of RBH reviews on this site. Not to mention the staff uses it and says "havent found anything better for the money". I not yelling or being negative, its just, you should research a little, cause theres isn't always a forum around to tell you :p

Now that I mention it, it sounds, and looks like the staff here is on RBH's payroll (completely bogus statement) but to the untrained eye, you could be fooled :p

Hi All
I am not particularly a huge Runco fan or cheerleader for Sam but I have not
Encountered any of the problem's BMX has with the line. There were some early reports of software bugs with the 710 but that's all I have heard.
I know Runco provides allot of dealer training for their product line.

All things being equal and cost not a factor I would say it is a quality product.
Installed by a knowledgeable custom integrator. If you are a DIY person then there are many more cost effective alternatives. Remember that the projector is only going to be as good as the installation if you are comfortable and confident in the installer you have chosen that's a great start.

Can you please tell them to send my paycheck Its about 8 years late :D
Seriously RBH speakers are huge bang for the buck speakers surpassing many brands at and above their perspective price points ;)

i checked the floorplan, he does intend to hide the speakers in the walls.

aside from this link ...
http://www.audioholics.com/showcase/systemguide/25KRecommendedhometheater.php

where can i get the SRP of these things? because he plans to use SI-760 wall mount speakers for the 4 surrounds instead of the one in the package above. and he plans to use the 1212SE SW

here's what he gave me ...
1266SE/R USD2716/pr
661SE center USD642
SI760 surrounds USD1133/pr x 2
1212SE sub USD2089 /pc

The last statement here is one to really think about.
If you buy a new Runco, for the warranty to be in effect it must be installed by a Runco dealer/installer.

Well, that being the case. Runco is one of the higher end names. More used for large venue, like concerts, half time at sporting events, etc.. One reason is that almost all of them need a custom lens for the specific installation.
Nothing against Runco, but there may be better choices for a medium to large size HT... IMO.

I would say look into the Sim2 line....
Like this one... http://www.sim2.it/int/prodotto_.php?id=9&name=Grand Cinema HT&id_pr=81&cont=7&colore=FFFFFF&name_p=HT500 E-LINK&menu=menu_home_theater.htm

The 500E Link is a bit up there in price but they have a new model that looks even better for half the cost. Link here http://www.projectorcentral.com/SIM2_Multimedia-Grand_Cinema_C3X.htm

EDIT:::: Also for more high end screen options I would say to consider Stewart Screens...
Here is a link.. http://www.stewartfilm.com/application/index.jsp?app_id=1

I see your custom installer is recommending the RBH line I would say that this is a good indication that this person values his clients and puts quality over more profit. I can say for a fact that there are many other lines that offer more margin But none that I can think of that offer more value to a consumer.

I use RBH in one of my systems and I have many brands to choose from. This SI-760 was mounted on the wall and a shadow box will be built around it
