Speaker connection puzzle

I've just acquired a Rotel RMZ 955 amp and multi-room system controller, and instead of the connectors shown in the manual for speakers, there are horizontal sockets with four pins (R and L for two speakers). Can anyone tell me where I can get plugs that will work with these?

These are generally called Phoenix connectors, and should look something like this:

Unfortunately, Phoenix connectors come in a LOT of different sizes, so you really want to call Rotel, or call your local Rotel dealer and ask them about getting a replacement set of Phoenix connectors for this amplifier. Rotel customer support, perhaps through their website, may be able to direct you to the proper size phoenix connectors. They are available for purchase online, but you do want to get the size right so you don't have to buy a bunch of different sizes.

I use them all the time, but I've never used them with Rotel amps, so I don't know what size you need.

Look on page 10 of your manual.

If this was a new unit, there should have been adapters supplied that go into the sockets, one for each speaker. They convert to screw down speaker wire connectors.

The manual says these adapters are supplied. If you don't have them then you will have to contact Rotel. I would bet those sockets are one of many lousy and inconvenient EU DIN standards. There are a lot of DIN speaker standards, but with a big range of pin sizes. The manual does not specify and I can't guess.

If this unit is new carefully check your packing. If absent then Rotel owe you the adapters.

If you don't have them, have Rotel give you the specs, and I would bet it is a DIN spec, and see if you can get them, or have them supply them.

What you need is pictured on page 10.
