Emo. UMC-1: bypasing sub for 2.0 stereo audio

I'm trying to set up my UMC-1 to bypass the sub for stereo audio material (and play in 2.0 mode). I've got an Oppo BDP-93 connected to the UMC-1 by HDMI and 7.1 analog connections. When I play video material, (using the 'DVD' UMC-1 source) all is fine - low freq. material goes to the sub, as I'd like, and I get 5.1 content, as I want.
If I play an audio CD, I'd like all the signal to go just to the two fronts (2.0 mode), bypassing the sub. I've been trying to set up the CD source to bypass the sub, but my speakers are still set to small, (with a crossover at 40 Hz), and I have to go into the speaker setup to change them back to 'large' . It makes an appreciable difference to sound quality when I do, but it's a hassle to have to change speaker setup whenever I want to play an audio CD.

So is there a way to route video content to my 5.1 setup, and yet have a mode where I can play audio in full-bandwidth 2.0 mode?

It would seem the 'direct' mode could do this, but as far as I can tell, it does not bypass bass management.

Thanks in advance

Fronts: B&W 802D's
Sub: SVS PB12-plus

Use analog from the 93 and set it to Large & no sub.

Otherwise I think you'll have to ask Emotiva, though I know there are a few UMC-1 owners on here too.

Set it to direct mode, that cuts out the sub... all the other ones like dolby ect use the sub... And make sure your fronts arent crossed, and they are set at full....

Apparently there is no way to preset speaker size differently for different inputs. Even a 'direct' hookup goes through bass management, although it does not output anything on the .1 channel. :( (It just applies the HPF to the fronts.)
So it seems I have to manually toggle speaker size between 'small' and 'large' whenever switching between 2.0 and 5.1 modes.
If anyone knows how to automatically set up this ('large' for 2.0, 'small' for 5.1), I would love to hear.

I know of no receiver/preamp that will do that.

However, I would not cross the 802s over. They have a nice bass response. I would set those speakers to large and just feed on the sub very gently below 60 Hz. You probably will need very little output from your sub.

I Direct modes, the sub should be silent with a set up like that.

In my view really good capable speakers should not be crossed over but generally run full range.

Interesting. SVS recommends a 40 Hz crossover with the B&W 802's and the PB12. If I let the 802's run full range in 5.1 mode, where do I set the sub crossover?

You set the fronts to full, but you can still set the crossover on the UMC-1 to 60 Hz for the LFE signal. The LFE signal will play through the sub when there is one. You still set the crossover on the actual sub as high as possible.
