So if each sub is 2 ohm (since parallel), that means the XLS1500 is capable of 775 watts x 2ch into 2 ohms. :D
Yep that lines up real nice with the RMS value on the drivers. Now the peak wattage is ~1200 so the XLS 2500 wouldn't be remiss either as an amp choice.

Connected in parallel combined load is seen as 2 ohms. I see that the RMS on each is 300W, sums to 600W. The amp is rated 775W at 2ohm.

Trying to understand, based on what would one recommend a certain power? Would one recommend an amp with a capacity of at least, 600W at 2 ohm, or that plus some head room? If some head room is recommended, that by what factor is usually recommended? 10% more? 20% more?

I stopped worrying about that math years ago. Bottom line is get an amp that will deliver the RMS rated wattage that the speaker can handle and don't worry about the rest.

+1. As long as you get to AT LEAST RMS of the driver you shouldn't have issues. You can go over without any problems, but if you go too far over RMS you could murder your drivers. You'd have to go pretty far over RMS to cause damage though.

Purchased the Crown XLS 1500. Should have it delivered in a couple of days.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)
