Need help picking subwoofer for my room size

I am in the process of picking a budget subwoofer for my home theater room and there are a few subs I am looking at but I am not sure which ones to get. My budget is $200 and I would like to keep it around there. My room is 18' x 10.5' x 6.5' and is exactly 1,228 cu. ft. and is rectangular. I want to place my subwoofer in the corner of my room next to my TV because of space restraints. My TV is located on one of the short sides of the room I am wondering, if I put a big sub like the BIC F12 in the corner, would it likely be too boomy for my size room. If I had to I might be able to get away with placing a subwoofer in front of my TV stand a few feet from the side wall so that it would be sideways in front of the TV. The last option would be to place the sub on the other side of the TV stand but then I would only be about a foot from the sub and I wouldn't like that.

I am considering the following subs:
-BIC F12
-Energy S10.3 (am concerned about quality issues with this sub)
-Polk PSW 505, 111, 110

What do you guys think?

Apparently this seller doesn't understand the difference between a passive and active sub?

I think you should remove the 111 and 110 for sure :) Corner placement won't hurt a sub if it is decent and you are sort of pre-worrying about boom before you have it. At $200, you are going to have a hard time finding a sub that isn't somewhat boomy, so either save more or expect a little of that. I think the F12 would do fine.

I think I will save more and get something like the STF-2. There is no sense in spending $200 on a sub that is boomy and poorly made.

The stf2 is a real nice sub, also keep an eye on HSU's Bstock page, its a good way to save $50....

Energy S10.3, STF-2 and Jamo 650 (is/was on clearance at Vanns) would be my short list of subs

The energy s10.3 is a good sub for the money. I have had a pair for almost a year with no problems so far. I do not find them boomy but i'm sure that will depend upon room placement and where you cross over to them.

That is an unbelievable price on the Jamo and way cheaper than on Amazon. I will have to do some more research but I am definitely going to consider the Jamo for the price.

JCL, I'm glad to hear you are happy with the S10.3 sub. I just read some reviews on Amazon and other places of people that weren't happy with the sub. People were saying that the LED light burns out and some people received defective units. I was concerned that if they were skimping on the LED light then the company was skimping on other parts of the unit. Maybe I will still consider the S10.3 but a lot of people have good things to say about Hsu research and about the STF-2. I just don't want to buy a sub in the $200 range and then have it crap out on me 2 years later. The more money I spend, the less likely the sub is to crap out (at least in general; you get what you pay for).
