Hello.I have a question about connecting the speakers.I wonder if using a 5.1 wall plate for speakers can affect the quality of the sound. Is it better to connect the receiver and speakers directly? The same is for hdmi wall plate. Is there a difference between multiple 5.1 wall plates found on the market? Thanks

Audiophiles like to claim it makes a difference as to speaker wires and interconnects  but that is all a bunch of BS. Threaten these audiophools with a DBT test and they decline it each and everytime because they know they will fail the test. I use a 5.1 wall plate and it sure does clean up the wiring mess and I noticed no sound degradation what so ever.

Each extra connection that you put into the chain between the receiver and a speaker will add electrical resistance, and it adds the opportunity to make a bad connection. So, can it affect sound quality? Yes. Will it? Almost surely no, as it's easy to make good connections.

I agree with 3db - if you make good connections, then you shouldn't notice any degradation.

I concur. It does effect the resistance, but it is highly unlikely that it is audible. As long as all the connections are secure, should not be a problem. Just think of all the other connections the signal goes trough before it gets to those.

I've used the wall plates and find they work very well. So much cleaner looking and functioning, I would have to recommend going with them.

Your thread title mentions wall plate or direct connection. You’re asking about a 5.1 wall plate, which tells me you’re talking about the location behind the equipment rack? If that’s the case, why bother? Sure they’re pretty, but behind the equipment rack no one is going to see it anyway, so why bother? It’s just added expense and connectors that aren’t adding anything of value.
