HI Guys,
When i play the TV through the surround system, the sound starts to break down and I have to change channel and back again to get the sound back to normal.

It does this only through digital TV.
DVD / Media player /Wii/ etc all plays perfect.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

What type of digital TV?

We need to know your equipment and how it is connected before we can help.

It sounds like an HDMI handshake issue, with something in the chain not HDCP certified and out of compliance.

I disagree with this, there would be video issues as well.

But as TLS Guy said, until we know what equipment and how it's hooked up there's not much to say.

There does not necessarilly have to be video issues along with audio problems when there is a handshake issue. I only say this because i physically watched a receiver do this yesterday. There eventually was video problems, but the audio issues existed for days before video problems arrived.

Issues can be audio only but if it were a handshake issue none of the data traveling down the line would be decrypted. The handshake provides the necessary information required to do that, and it's not separate for audio and video.

The setup is per manuals but only using Jack to Jack (No HDMI cable on this old bugger!!)

The issue is only on the TV not any of the other add ons -

Cheers!

Do you have the peripherals connected to the Sherwood or the TV? In other words are you just using the audio out from the TV?

If the Sherwood receiver is the switch, it needs service, if the TV is the switch it needs service.
