Denon AVR2313CI: No video on HDMI AUX Front Input

Just got this receiver. Trying to connect a Macbook Pro via HDMI. TV is a Fujistsu plasma circa 2006, connected to receiver via Component, not via HDMI.
My problem is that when I plug the Mac, I only get the audio, not the video. The front panel says MULTI IN but no video. I tried all video resolutions from the Mac, and set the display to "Mirror" but no luck.
I tried on a another TV via direct HDMI input and it works fine.
Any idea?
Although the Fujistsu has one HDMI input< i can't use it because the TV is part of a Crestron setup and remote is disabled by RS-232C control, so I can't access the TV menu to switch to the HDMI input and bypass the pre-amp (that would be ok as I am only looking to play a slide show, no audio needed).

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

According to the 2313 owner's manual, page 6, that unit cannot convert an HDMI input to a component video output. Therefore, you can't connect your MB to the Denon via HDMI and watch it on a TV that is connected using component video. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

So, there's no way to connect an HDMI input to your TV? I'm not familiar with Creston systems, and I didn't fully follow what you said about that.

Something to consider is that you could get an HDMI-to-component video converter like this one, plug your MacBook into it via HDMI, then connect it to your Denon using component video. It'll cost you about $40, but it should solve your issue.

Thanks. Off course it can't do that, it only costs $900, I should have known.
I'll look into re-enabling the TV remote on top of RS-232C so I can use the TV's HDMI input. Won't get any audio but that's irrelevant.

Understood. it's just astonishing that a $40 gizmo can do it and a $900 receiver can't. You'd think many people would need that when upgrading from 5y old configurations. Thanks anyways.

It's not that you have a bad receiver - few if any will do that conversion. The Denon 3313 won't do it, either.

Btw, are you wanting to do a slideshow of picture files? If so, does your TV have a memory card slot? My Panasonic (which is newer by about three years, though) has one and will let me do a photo slideshow from the memory card.

it has an iPod/USB slot, you're right, that might work. Gonna look into that. Thanks, you're being helpful!

It didn't work either. I wonder if it is the same issue i.e. that my TV is connected via component color and not HDMI? I can see the subfolders with pictures, and the slideshow actually starts, because I can see the photo file names scroll on the front display of the AVR2313, but the TV displays absolutely nothing.
This is terribly disappointing to lose two key pieces of functionality simply because of my TV connection.
Any ideas for the USB photos? Same issue I suppose although no mention of it in the user manual.

What is the model number of your Fujistsu TV? We might be able to figure something out after looking at that.
