considering Onkyo 805 to 1009 upgrade

I'm generally happy with the Onkyo TX-805. But when watching TV from Directv the audio feed frequently switches between stereo and Dolby Digital whenever the program goes in to and out of a commercial. The commercials are mostly in stereo, and if the program is Dolby Digital, the feed from the Directv box changes from Stereo to DD. When this happens, the TX-805 audio cuts out for several seconds while it decides what to do.

I'd like to get a receiver that can make that change in the audio mode faster, and the 1009 has other interesting features too. Onkyo tech support is useless. They either have no idea what I'm talking about (at least their honest) or they tell me they'll test the new receiver and get back to me. Of course they never get back to me.

Does anyone have the 1009 and can you tell me how long it takes the 1009 to switch between audio modes?

As another 805 owners I can confirm it does indeed takes few seconds to switch digital modes pcm->dd/dts but this audio switch doesn't happen on cable at-least not for commercials.

Spending hundreds of dollars over minor annoyance and few new feats? Hmmmm

I am gonna stick to my 805 till it's craps out (and then will try to fix it myself) or sell it for good price

If the dialogue starts up just as it comes back from commercial, you can't hear what was said. And if I'm watching Tina Fey on 30 Rock, that's no minor annoyance! ;-)

But I'd also like to have the 9.2 channels. Plus, I have another room to use the 805 in so it's not such an extravagance.

Thanks,
