hooking up a trigger wire

Hello..
I have a Yamaha RX-A2000 AVR and I just purchased an Emotiva XPA-5 Amp.
Now my Yamaha has the pre outs and 2 triggers on the back, I have been looking on forums and some people say in order for their trigger to work they needed a single wire while some people have said the trigger did not work unless it was a stereo trigger wire meaning 2 wire inside the single jacket instead of one..
Does that make any sense to anyone?
Anyway I'm asking to find out if anyone has done this to their Yamaha AVR and which wire do I need..?
Thanks

Hi. I'm pretty sure that either will work, based on what I just read. I use 12v triggers, but it's been three years since I installed them...and I'm too lazy to try and crawl around my entertainment center to unplug them and verify what I used.

You can buy 3.5mm stereo cables (and I imagine mono, too) for really cheap - less than $1 at monoprice.com (well, $1 plus shipping). So, there isn't much financial risk if it doesn't work. You can also buy mono-to-stereo adapter plugs, just in case the stereo doesn't work.

Yes, should be a mono 3.5mm, but I do believe the stereo ones will work in many cases. I have used both. :) I can check mine pretty easily to see if it is stereo or mono on my XPA-3.

Well Well..
My XPA-5 just arrived and Inspected it outer box intact all inner boxes intact so I pulled it out of the box and guess what inside the power cable bag was a 12 trigger wire..lol
So i'll get around to hooking it up later today or tomorrow and post if that wire worked or not..
Thanks for you help guys..

Yeah, I think mine came with one too, but I already had two hooked up for my previous amps, so I couldn't remember and the one that came with it is likely still in the box :)
