Sad day in Sports- Lance Armstrong

I seem to recall reading somewhere that had Armstrong stayed retired and not chosen to compete again after his last TdF victory, the statute of limitations would have run out.

It all sucks. As a long time cyclist, I see a sport that seems hopelessly poisoned. I don't know whether Lance is really "guilty" or not, but I do know that when you declare guilt against a guy who has passed 500 drug tests, based on testimony from guys who are also accused and have something to gain by giving evidence against a guy more famous than them, you have the basic elements of a McCarthy styled witch hunt.

I've lost respect for the sport, which I have watched since the mid 90's when Miguel Indurain was champion.

Cause honestly, watch Lance ride. I saw him climbing the Pyrenees, I believe his closest competition was the Danish guy, they had broken away and had the peleton catching up. Approaching the final climb Lance looked back at the guy, read him to see if there was anything left, and then took off!

Thats not a drug, thats skill.

Didn't Marion Jones also pass all her drug tests?

He knew it would have been for nothing if he took it all the way. The USADA is something like 54-2 in arbitration......he knew exactly the kind of impartiality he was going to get.

It was basically his last chance to tell Tygart to go pound sand.

Whether he doped or not, he was 200-0 in testing negative.

Guilty until proven innocent.
I thought he did fail a test back in 96 or 99. That a trace amount of some PED was found in his system but it was explained as doctor-prescribed. Not sure. Either way this was a disgusting situation and anyone looking at the facts knows he earned those jerseys. Either he was the better cheater or he won in a field of cheaters.

They found evidence of a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are not PEDs. I'm not really sure why they even test for them. It was from saddle sore cream. Probably contained hydrocortisone or something.

It's pretty ridiculous that he's been tested more than 500 times... significantly more than any other athlete and nothing has ever been found despite the driving force of a governing body who infatically stated they made up their minds he was doping his entire career. Now even today, you have tests and samples which where handled that never followed any sort of protocals, the ones that all labs and governing bodies must abide to that still have negative results of doping. So what do they have? A handful of people who were caught doping... not years later after the fact, but right away... make deals to testify for any number of benefits... i.e. money and removal of restrictions.

Yep... that sounds like a fair shake to me.
