I am looking for a smaller sub to fill our bedroom. I was poking around on eBay and found a Def Tech Supercube III new for $250! After I bought it I realized its a 220 volt sub, Doh. I should have been now more careful. I am trying to stop the order.

Even if I can't stop th purchase I won't be using the def tech. I'll sell it cheap or return it.
How is Harman?
I was looking into an Emotiva ultra 10 but can't seem to find one.

Nice, I like my PS210(s) a lot. I run a pair of them in my HT. I have a pretty large room and they fill the space nicely, are good all around for music and movies, and are pretty detailed for ported subs. Mostly what you would expect from Infinity. A nice wood enclosure that looks good with the grille on or off, not one of those cheap plastic jobs usually suited to computer or bedroom use.

I would think for a space like a bedroom, one would be more than plenty.

You may see some reviews that call the quality of this unit suspect. If you read more closely you will see that most of these folks are "wall shakers" and this sub was not designed to do that. Unfortunately they designed the electronics with enough headroom so that it could be abused. If you crank the volume to 10 and run it that way for extended periods, people claim they break in a year.

For me, if you set it up properly, you should get many years of enjoyment out of it. I intially set the volume to about half, and the crossover frequency at about 110 Hz and tweaked from there. I ended up with the volume at about a touch more than half, and the crossover at about 100 Hz. This unit is flexible enough to accomodate just about any setup.

I emailed him 3 times and called. If I can't stop the transaction I'm hoping I can sell it for 200$

You could probably use the ebay or paypal tools to cancel the transaction. But, you may end up taking a ding on your ebay feedback, if that is worth the saved $200 and hassle.

I can't quite figure out how to cancel it. The transaction says complete. There's a 30 day return policy but a 30% restocking fee.

The seller is bajawaverunner on eBay. He's a big Def Tech dealer on eBay w good reviews. He has tons of def tech gear. I am trying to get him to just switch the 220 v with 110v supercube III. I am willing to pay him more but can't get him to respond. He could be on vacation.

BTW, thanks for posting this. I would not have thought to look for that either. 220V audio gear isn't a common issue most places you can buy from.

Yeah, he would probably do it. However, no response would probably be a good excuse to cancel the entire transaction if it came to it.

As a seller on ebay, I have had some deadbeat bidders before that did not respond until after I opened a dispute with ebay. Seems that the dispute finally got their attention. Sucks if it has to come to that though, especially in your situation where you are kinda in the wrong by making the mistake.

He agreed to cancel the transaction. I said I would upgrade n buy the supercube III 110 v from him. The communication was so terrible from him. He canceled the eBay transaction which I agreed to but never got my refund. He would say I would have my refund by tonight then I never got it. Then he said the person who issues refunds quit and he doesn't have password to refund. Bottom line no refund. I called PayPal and he has 10 days to refund or I automatically get a refund. When he saw I issued disputed through PayPal he asked to that submit the dispute through eBay. Bottom line it's been such a hassle I'm not ordering anything.

Yup. Lesson learned. Run-around sucks, no response sucks. At this point, you have every right to demand your $ back with no recourse. That is money that you lost an opportunity on (either interest or electronics). You have buyer protection and that is what the ebay fees and paypal fees are for. I hate those fees, but when push comes to shove, you are protected. As I told you in an earlier post, sometimes the dispute is what it takes to get action. Either way, no loss to you except time and hassle.

And, at this point, I highly recommend that you leave him negative or neutral feedback. In fact, it is really your duty to inform the ebay community of his waste of your time.

Is paypal usually on the buyers side? I've never had to file a dispute.

Yeah, every time I've done it (probably 2-3 times in about 10 years), I got my money back. If you saved the emails and his lack of attention, pretty much a closed case.

Paypal's entire purposes are easy transactions and buyer protection.

For example, the one that could have went either way was a vintage NES game that I had bought on Ebay. The listing said that it played fine, but every time I played for about 10 minutes it locked up. I contacted the seller and he said "sorry, but nothing I can do". I opened a dispute (can't remember if it was paypal or ebay or both), and was told to ship the item back and provide shipping tracking info. Once it was confirmed as delivered, they refunded my $. I was only out return shipping.

Bottom line, ebay and paypal depends on funds from people buying products, and the last thing they want to do is alienate people spending $. But yeah, I say open the dispute with Ebay too.

Return shipping and the time to ship it ... and the time spent on that barrage of emails. What gets me most is when ... nevermind, it's too early to get bent about effing eBay. I recently had a non paying bidder charge leveled at me. I told them I had a receipt and I had the item. That led them to conclude that I in fact did not pay. But I have a receipt. Seller says you didn't pay ... that means you didn't pay. Maybe I shouldn't have called them retarded.

Man, that really bites. There is nothing worse than dealing with these types of individuals on ebay or other similar sites.
