Are you going to point him to a $1,299 4311 (I can never find such deal on that thing) just to tempt him?:D I do think the 4311 will sound as good and as powerful as those little UPA amps.
AVR-4311 was $1225 delivered from Electronic Expo. :D

But I think the AVR-3312 for $550 delivered was the best deal.

Only thing is my center is rated to 100w and it the 200 is only 80w. Quintets are rated for 50w. The 500 puts out 125, which is exactly what my WF-34 Fronts are rated for. Any suggestions before ordering are welcome. I don't mind spending the money if it is a wise investment and will be impressive. Thanks for all your help!

The WF-34 has sensitivity of 95.5 dB and rated 8 ohms nominal. They really don't need much power at all.

If he prefers separates, I would recommend the 4311 because it can run in preamp mode, has XT32 and many features that only higher end separate prepros have so if he upgrades his speakers down the road he can just add a power amp. The 3312 is nice too though not as well equipped.

True. Unless you don't believe in "cheaper" RC like Audyssey, ARC, and most RCs out there. :D

Like me. If you don't use Audyssey at all, then the 3312 @ $550 would be a great preamp.

But if you use Audyssey, then yes he 4311 is the way to go.
