I just signed up and I'm going to lurk around for a while but here is a little info about what I’m trying to accomplish:
I have a dedicated media room on the 3rd floor of my new house but it has nothing in it yet. It's right at 500 sq/ft with a bathroom and a wet bar......that's it. All of the walls ceiling, trim and doors are painted brown and there aren't any windows. It's pre-wired for 5.1 but they used cheap 16ga wire. I'm planning to wire it for 7.1 with 12ga. wire. It also has and outlet and cable run on the ceiling for a projector......the cable run leads to a closet where all of my speaker wires terminate and I have 4 electrical outlets in the same closet.
As far as components go, I plan to start over……everything new.
Speakers: Call me crazy or whatever but I’ve been long time fan of Klipsch speakers and I plan to use some new ones in this new setup. Looking @ RF-62 II for the front, RS-62 II on the side walls, RB-61 II rear and RC-61 II as the center.
That’s about all I have figured out. My budget is to stay under $10k for all of the audio and video equipment…….Furniture and stuff will be in addition to this cost.

Oh, my main goal for this room is to (in order of importance)
1.) Watch movies (want the option of 3D)
2.) Listen to music

Cool. Do you have any questions?

What sub? Don't say Klipsch...

have you considered TV and/or projector solutions?
(yea, definitely skip Klipsch subs - SVS, Rythmic and HSU)

Haven't gave the subwoofer much thought. Any suggestions that i should look at? Again main use will be for movies so I want it to hit hard but yet still sound good with music.

My main confusion is projectors.....never owned one or even known anyone with one. I'd like to get a projector and fixed screen for $3k. I'd also like it to be 3D.
suggestions?

What do you guys think of the Pioneer Elite SC-65(that about my price range for a receiver)? I remember back in the day Elite stuff was pretty good but I could never afford it back then......then I heard the quality went to ****......are they making good stuff again. I've been out of the loop a long time.

can you tell me what 4K high resolution video is? Never hear this term before.

I plan to paint all the outlets and A/C vents the same color brown.

Pioneer Elite receivers are nice.

Also, your Klipsch speakers look small in your room.:)

I would be looking for a receiver with Audyssey multiEQ 32XT. The Pioneer stuff is nice, but I trust Audyssey with room correction more than I do MCACC. With 32XT, you can also integrate dual subs much more easily than other room correction EQs. Personally I would go with bookshelf speakers for the side surrounds instead of bipoles, but that is just my preference. As others have said, steer clear of Klipsch subs, although their SW115 does not look bad- you can get a good deal on it if you buy a Klipsch package. Personally I would rather have a Hsu VTF15h or Rythmik FV15. This beast from Power Sound Audio looks like it could be great as well.

ok, I guess I need to do some reading about "room correction"........don't know anything about that.

what about Marantz receivers?

as far as subs go, I was looking into Rythmik & SVS yesterday.

Ok, did some more research and this is what I'm planning to order:
Marantz SR6007 receiver
Oppo BDP-93 Bluray
Rhythmik FV15 sub <- will this be a good selection? Room is right @ 500 sq/ft. (to big or to small?)

Now I'm starting to second guess the Klipsch speakers......can you guys give me some options in the $4k range (7.1.....without the sub obviously) I want to get out and listen to some speakers but I want to have some ideas about what to look for.

Also what about line conditioners and surge protectors?

I really appreciate all the help guys.
