I think that they should be looking long and hard at if he's lying now about his reason. Arson on a nuclear sub is no small offense, and the financial repercussions will extend beyond the $400M in damages.

If he is telling the truth...he clearly has no concept of consequences. Setting a fire aboard a nuclear submarine so that you can go home early?! :eek: Jeese, just go home. The guy was a civilian, and the thing was in dry dock. What if someone had died? The report says that people were injured. "Eh, darn. At least I can watch TV now."

I was a submariner in the RCN. We didn't have drug problems that I knew of(not counting booze anyway;)), but if we returned home from a port which had a prominent drug scene, they'd have customs agents search the boat. I recall them trying to bring a dog aboard once. But, it refused to come down the hatch. :D
