Owning Multiple Speakers Is Nice

We all know that feeling when we first get our new speakers. Philharmonic, Salk, Revel, KEF, B&W, Ascend, Linkwitz, GedLee, PSB, Paradigm, Klipsch, NHT, Martin Logan, Magnepan, DefTech, GoldenEar, Aperion, Focal, Dali, Thiel, Vandersteen, RBH, etc.

But it seems over time, we kind of take them for granted. The grass is always greener on the other side. We lose that honeymoon period like all things in life.

I have five sets of speakers as of now. That number could be six in a few. For the past couple of months, I've been listening to the Phil3 speakers. They are fantastic speakers. No question about it. One of the best. But I've been neglecting my other poor speakers.

So tonight I've been listening to Yo-Yo Ma on my Linkwitz Orion. Wow! They are fantastic speakers. No question about. One of the best. Even in my imperfect 15' x 17' x 15' room and placements. It was almost like listening to them for the first time again. Nice. Appreciation. Love it.

So I think owning multiple sets of speakers is nice. You enjoy one set of speakers for a few months. Then change to another set and that honeymoon starts all over again. :D

Fellas, I'm open-minded. Right now I'm listening to Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone on the Infinity P362 + dual Velodyne SC-IF subs.

This Yo-Yo Ma person makes the P362 sound as good as the B&W 802D. :D

PENG said his P362 didn't sound as good with violins or strings or something. But I think it depends on the recordings. Right now the P362 is singing great. No complaints. :D

Those damn 1%ers :D
Hey, hey, fellas. Gotta set the record straight here. I ain't no damn 1%er.

I'm probably a 20%er. I refuse to believe otherwise. But I would love to be a 1%er. Then I could have a room for each set of speakers. :D

All kidding aside Mr. 2%'er ;) :p , I agree with you about the honeymoon phase with new gear. I've had my Sierra-1's for a little over a year now, and while I enjoy them, I am starting to get the itch to upgrade to something with a little more efficiency, a little more imposing (they just look puny next to my Submersive ), and a lot more expensive. BTW, the JBL LSR6332's are still my leader in the clubhouse for around $3k... not sure if I could do better @ that price with KEF, JTR, or even Philharmonics.

I'm just glad the itch hasn't hit me in the bass department, unless you count getting a second Submersive. #phew

I listen to a lot of speakers fairly often and it is pretty unusual for me to begin pondering ownership of something else. The list is very short. I enjoy my stuff every time I turn it on. And the odd thing about that is that I am very fickle.... I usually change cars like every 6 months max. lol

My Salk SongTowers RT (soon to be replaced with Phil3's:)) and Focal Solo6's are both very nice speakers; but they are also clearly different in their presentation. If I am in the mood for smooth and mellow, the SongTowers are fantastic; but if I am listening to syncopated and energetic the Focals have the edge!
It will be exciting to see if the Phil3's fill the role of the SongTowers or stake claim to new territory!

American households right at the 99th percentile (that is, the cut-off for the top 1 percent) will earn about $506,553 in cash income this year, according to a Tax Policy Center analysis. The income curve is very steep at the high end, meaning that people just a few tenths of a percentile point above that make much, much more. A family at the 99.5th percentile, for example, makes $815,868; its neighbor at the 99.9th percentile makes more than double that, at $2,075,574 a year.
The average net worth for the 99th percentile in net worth was $19,167,600 as of 2007, based on this research. The average net worth of the next 9 percent of Americans was $2,371,500.
Damn! That's a lot of money, and 1% of the population is a whole lot of people!

So will you keep the Salk & Focal along with the Phil3? :D

Well, today I'm enjoying the P362 w/ the 3 Velodyne subs.

The vocals sound really really great......................when I'm singing karaoke. ;) :D

No, the Salks are already spoken for. As it happens, I'll be dropping off the Salks when I get the Phils. Somehow, because of their common heritage, it seemed redundant to keep the SongTowers.

I expect to keep the Focals.

The Phils will my first full range speaker that is under 50 years old!
The SongTower and Solo6 both "want" a sub.
