6.5" woofer in sealed box. 86db efficiency and 8ohm impedance - keep in mind if this designed to work with Nexus Q which have 25wpc amp - seems like odd choice.... I'd pick Ascend's CBM-170 SE over the Traids any day

What do you guys think (besides the fact, unless fully hacked to be usable media client - in it's current state $299 Nexus Q is a guaranteed flop, much worse than google tv)

For Triad to sell a pair of speakers for $399, that is cool. However, I
think that I would use them for something else.:) Do not under estimate
the Triad sound quality, they do good work. The older Triad Gold speakers
that I own, are better than a lot of speakers out here today. I do enjoy the
clean, smooth and transparant sound, with very good detail and definition.
I do enjoy them, because they do not annoy me.
As far as Nexus Q, I will pass - if I were to use it, something like the S30
Cambridge Audio would work for me, and they have good bass. Plus, they
are all around nice sounding, and some fun speakers.

any exposure like this for Triad is good. They are a good company that engineers legitimately good products. I hope this venture is profitable for them. Paul Scarpelli is a good guy.

I didn't mean to say anything negative about the speakers themselves - I'm sure they are good values in their category and probably indeed sound excellent. This would great promotion for the brand...

All I said in combo with Nexus Q they seem like odd choice ...

86dB 1/watt at 1 meter is pretty good for a bookshelf.

Consider the recent Infinity P363 tower I reviewed that was rated at 93dB sensitivity. They didn't tell you it's a 4 ohm speaker and if you scale it back to 1 watt / 8 0hms the real efficiency of that speaker is 87dB!

All Sensitivity specs aren't created equal and when I play catch up on some of the review gear I'm working on, I will write an article on this topic.
