High Efficient/Sensitive speakers

Anyone heard these?

Zu Audio | A Revolution in American HiFi

Always thought it was a kind of cool setup. American made, direct, full range, very sensitive.

We've talked about Zu Audio before. Sensitive yes, but measures like a 2 yr old scribbled on some paper:

Plus, I'm instantly skeptical of any speaker maker that says stuff like this:

Omen Center loudspeaker now get 200 hours of factory burn-in, it will sound good right out of the box but will not give you its best for several weeks, depending on how much play it get and what kind of music it sees. If at first you find it restrained and a bit conservative, relax, it will come around.

Zu Omen Center loudspeaker is sensitive to the cold. If you have received, moved or stored it in cold temperatures it will take a week or so to again sound its best.

Lol, good to know. Also isn't really sensitive, they measured it at 92, which isn't close to it's claimed sensitivity... it's still higher then a lot of speakers, but, when I think of high sensitivity I think of 96+ at least.

It brings up an interesting side discussion - what do most people consider high sensitivity? I think for myself, 95db would be the threshold for HS, and something around 87db or below, I would call low sensitivity.

I think their stuff is kind of lack-luster, but their Dominance speakers are the most fun I've ever had in a demo room. Those things are silly.

Yes, I remember those because I have never seen a worse measured speaker in my life! John Atkinson was trying so hard not to totally trash the review. It is an art to be able to turn "these speakers are total crap" into compliments.

What the heck did Zu expect? Didn't they even measure their own speakers? I guess not.

The only good thing about the Zu's is it gives me faith that I could use my limited knowledge of speaker design, DIY my own speakers, and still have a pretty good chance of measuring better than these.

ADTG, you need go audition a pair of Zu's, if only for the entertaining aftermath of the experience hahaha

It's no wonder a lot of people actually love the sound of Bose speakers (+/- 10dB) !

A lot of people actually love the sound of +/-10dB speakers.

I already own the Acoustimass-3. They are in the closet.

AJ has FedEX me the M1 speakers to start the tour. I should hopefully get them tomorrow. If they sound super, then I will most likely wait for his HET1 (High Efficiency Theater) speakers. The one with the ribbon horn tweeter & Eminence woofer in a 24" x 12" x 9" cabinet.

Nope. Just got back from Cancun last night. Still recovering.

M1 should be here on Thursday (tomorrow). Ready to hook up.

Oh, forgot about those built-in powered subs! So will need to plug each M1 into outlet.

AJ says I get them for 2 weeks.

I've bought and sold on eBay many times. I know. $8K is well below the reserve of $9488. I was just having fun placing the bid for $8K as my Max. Apparently I'm still the highest bidder. Just a matter of time before someone outbid me.
