Small Living Rooms Set-up

I am moving into a new home and the one drawback is the living room set-up. I currently have a Denon AVR-1910 running Polk Monitor 70s on the left and right. Rear speakers and center channel are Polk RM-7s. Due to the configuration of the room, I will no longer have room for the Polk Monitors and I will need to move to a much smaller setup. I was considering going with one of the following:

Denon AVR-1910 > Polk Surroundbar CHT 400 + Sub (TBD)

or

Polk Surroundbar IHT 6000 (wireless sub included)

Does anyone have advice on which one is preferred? Are there other alternatives I should consider? Space is a concern, but I want to maintain a good sound quality without sacrificing too much depth of sound. Trying to keep the whole project below $1000.

Cheers,

I would look at the Cambridge Audio S30 and S50 speakers

Audio Advisor - Search Results for cambridge audio speakers

The Cambridge will play down to 60hz and handle a 80hz crossover.

And the Energy S10.3 sub is a solid performer

I'm not really a fan of horn speakers but to stay within your size and budget restrictions I'd give strong consideration to a Hsu Research Hybrid 2 - 3.1 package for $999. The speakers are pretty small although they are rear ported and will need to be at least 12-18" away from the wall. The sub is also moderately compact. If you need the sub to be a bit smaller then you could go with the Hybrid 1 - 3.1 package for $899.

Another great choice would be a pair of Infinity Primus P163 bookshelf speakers on sale for $85ea plus a PC251 center for $150 and you have the front three covered for $320. The P163 are front ported which shoild help with placement - although I still wouldn't put them against the wall if you can avoid it. If you have the room you could go with a Hsu VTF-2 subwoofer, or bust the budget by $70 and get a nice compact SVS PC12-NSD

I have gone into HSU Research & listened to their HB-1 MK2 speakers 4 different times & each time my jaw drops at their performance!!! I am not a fan of horn tweeters but these DON NOT sound like horns! They are hands down my favorite $300 a pair speaker...tower or bookshelf!!!

30 day guarantee!!! Can't loose!!! (well shipping maybe)
