Source on danny richie designing the CHT speaker?? last i heard it was just a stock eminence crossover..
Danny Richie does all the designs for CHT. You don't get good measuring/sounding speakers with stock crossovers.
That would be kind of nuts because some people on AVS also say that the DT220i "unusable" for music due to its titanium diaphragm.
The DE250 in the abbey is a polyimide, and is considered far better for music.
It's debatable. One is pretty pistonic until it breaks up, where it might be offensive, and might not be depending on the frequency and the listener's hearing at that frequency. The other is better damped, but not necessarily pistonic, which might mean some details are lost. The preference would be up to the individual.
The only materials that will definitely be "far better" are magnesium, beryllium, etc. The only tweeters that fit these criteria cost magnitudes more than these entire speakers. It's no different from comparing an aluminum cone midrange (IE KEF Q900) to a poly cone midrange (IE EMP e55ti). They have pros and cons.
The most definite advantage of the De250 over the sellenium, is that it can play an octave lower, but that's not too meaningful in a 10 inch two-way, compared to a 15" two way.
