Hyperbole aside, the Three Pi is pretty well engineered, isn't it? Wayne seems refreshingly reality based, if preferential to his own babies.

I think they are "superior in every way" only in the context of his specific approach. The SEOS throw a much wider pattern contra to his design goals. A SEOS based speaker may be the bomb, too. Either would probably work well for ADTG. (Plus, we need to convince him to get some horns, which as you noted are conspicuously absent from his collection.)

So for horns in the $1500/speaker or less, what are the choices besides Pi speakers?

The Elemental Designs Cinema-12 is a horn speaker, isn't it?

The JBL SRX715 is a horn?

Seriously, if it's not too inconvenient I think the Three Pi may be worth a look for your stated needs. Grant is probably more up on the SEOS based two-ways percolating up from the DIY scene, which have gotten a lot of attention, including some interesting back and forth between Wayne and the SEOS proponents.

I think it depends on how you plan to use them and the room, which is what it always boils down to. I personally dig the narrower CD / corner loaded / cross-fire approach that Wayne subscribes to for providing that "cans on the whole room" effect. The room's response is greatly diminished, allowing a deeper glimpse into the recording. It would be distinctly different than what you're accustomed to, that's for sure.

Don't know much about them. I think the four pis have some wierd frequency response though. Worth an audition I think.

Yeah, the 3Pi looks like something I might be very interested in:

1. Nice (no post-processing or smoothing ) on-axis and off-axis FR - check
2. Horn tweeter - check
3. High efficient / high output 120dB Max SPL - check

It's even made right here in Oklahoma, my state.

I say it is for "karaoke", but you guys know better - I'm just looking for excuses.

Now I'm just waiting to see what everyone thinks. If 3Pi seems unanimous, I will buy for sure.

Very interesting.

Horns, efficient, high output, grilles, $395 delivered.

They even offer an 18" passive sub for $595 delivered. I love passive subs.

So 2 SHO-10 + 1 SS-18.1 = $1385 delivered. Kind of similar to Elemental Designs package.

Wait a little bit longer. I suspect someone will offer a speaker using the SEOS-12 waveguide - and that's where it's at. In fact I would contact Wayne Parham of Pi Speakers to inquire about exactly that.

Sounds intriguing. What does a SEOS-12 waveguide speakers sound like? Which speaker did you hear that uses them?

I too have heard good things about the CHT stuff, and I personally think Craig is a good guy, though some may disagree. They're certainly worth a look at that price.

Honestly - I am still stuck on the LSR6332's. Measurements won't tell you how the speakers will sound, but they are impressive and show they're a great design. I'd love to get ADTG's impressions on those vs. his Salon2's; a comparo of Harman's two best would be really cool.

Don't know about SHO-10 either.

The Shoe 10 uses a paper woofer as well, and a titanium tweeter. I don't know much about any of these TBQH, although I will point out that the SHoe 10 was design by danny richie of GR Research.

I do know the elemental designs can be upgraded to the excellent De250 mylar tweeter.
